The Glad Cafe

The Glad Cafe has been running an highly rated menu for the past four years, gaining plaudits in the List, the Skinny and WOW 24/7 awards under our great head chef, Amanda. Now that Amanda has moved onto to full time motherhood, we are delighted to be collaborating with the wonderful McCune Smith Cafe, who have taken over the running of our kitchen. McCune Smith is a joint venture between brothers Simon and Dan. We love their approach - they are always looking for the best, local, Scottish, ethical and sustainable ingredients. The Glad Cafe will be serving the McCune Smith breakfast and lunch menu freshly prepared on our premises from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at weekends. Our cafe is run by our Cafe Manager, Graham, with his team of baristas who work hard to provide our customers with professional and friendly service. We serve excellent, locally roasted Dear Green coffee, and serve scrumptious gluten free cakes from Wild Flours Gluten Free Bakery and a huge range of lovely cakes from Big Bear Bakery. Our premises are licensed from 12 noon until 11 pm Sunday to Wednesday, and 12 noon to 12 midnight Thursday to Saturday, and we provide a selection of wines, beers and spirits. Our growing range of beers include a choice from the popular Williams Bros Brewing Co, Drygate  as well as a changing array of other craft beers on draft, in bottles and cans. The warm ambience of the cafe is in no small measure due to the work of designers Simon Harlow, Roy Shearer and Gerry Thompson, and our architect Alyn Walsh. In 2013 our cafe won a RIAS Highly Commended award for the design. Free WiFi is provided to all customers, with eclectic playlists on rotation from open to close.

Beautiful community venue that supports the arts - great intimate venue for music, great bar with friendly staff

First choice for our visits to the south side. Dog friendly is always nice but Glad has rhe added bonus of plenty of space to tuck our enormous greyhound out of everyone\'s way so we\'re not having to constantly monitor him and apologise to people!
